The original maquette for the artist's book / exhibition catalogue "Dreaming The Gokstadt : Northern Lands and Islands" by Thomas Joshua Cooper ultimately published in conjunction with a traveling exhibition that began at Graeme Murray, Edinburg, in 1985. This maquette features 25 tipped in silver gelatin photographs, pasted in text blocks, hand sewn covers, a protective overlay cover, and a slipcase hot stamped with title and artist. Includes texts by the artist, and quotes by Barry Lopez, Basho, and others. The title stems from a 1000 year old viking ship salvaged from a bog in the village of Gokstadt, Norway. The ship and its memory were the central focus of Cooper's four year project. This was the second book in a proposed cycle of five books by the artist.
